Name: Porrim Maryam
Series: Homestuck
Canon Point: Shortly after she is introduced during A6I3.
Reference: http://mspaintadventures.wikia.com/wiki/Porrim_Maryam
Age: 9 Beforus solar sweeps; approximately 19 in Earth years.
Gender: Female.
Suitability: N/A; Porrim is over 18.
Appearance: N/A; she won't undergo any drastic physical changes.
Background: http://mspaintadventures.wikia.com/wiki/Porrim_Maryam; not much is known about Porrim's past aside from the fact that she is part of the blood caste tasked with attending to the Mother Grub, that she is a Rainbow Drinker, and the fact that she is dead.

Personality: As a member of the nearly all-female blood caste responsible for the tending of the Mother Grub, Porrim was conditioned from a young age to conform to the rigid gender roles of Beforan society, moreso than her less-jadeblooded inclined peers. Having been relegated to said roles for all of her life, Porrim began to question and challenge them, consequently taking a mild interest in gender politics. While speaking to Meenah, Porrim alludes to a “clo+aked fo+rm of patriarchal tyranny” of the seemingly matriarchal society of her and her friends' planet after the scratch. Her questioning of gender roles extended even further than those associated with the duties of her blood caste; with her growing interest in the topic came the realization that such sexual scripts existed not only in Beforan society as a whole, but also within the kingdoms and class assignments of her and her friends' game session. It is no wonder that Porrim became resentful of her role in Beforan society, as she likely felt limited by the stereotypical matriarchal role that she was born into. Porrim's concerns in regards to gender equality were so important to her that they found their way into her typing quirk: a plus sign after the letter “o,” which resembles the Venus symbol turned on its sign. (It has also been speculated that her quirk could also be an allusion to the O-positive bloodtype, in reference to her being a Rainbow Drinker.)

During an exposition of plot points by Aranea, it is revealed that Porrim looked out for Kankri, the ancestor of Karkat Vantas, and “kept him out of trouble.” During her brief interaction with Kankri during [S] ACT 6: INTERMISSION 3, there is an undeniable closeness between the two; Porrim opens up the conversation by calling Kankri “Kanny” and scolding him for haranguing Karkat. Kankri responds much like a child who has been scolded in front of his peers would, asking Porrim to not use the moniker, saying that it is “what y9u call a wiggler.” (As an aside, Porrim also handmade Kankri's red sweater, which displays her interest in fashion as well as the almost motherly care with which she treats him.) While Kankri plays the role of “social justice warrior,” finding anything and everything offensive and picking it apart, Porrim's response to the social issues that she finds important are much less extreme and fanatical, though no less passionate. She becomes impatient with Kankri when he suggests that her concerns with gender roles in Beforan society are “the9retical,” and while this is the closest we see her come to losing her temper, she quickly checks out of the conversation because Kankri appears to be in one of his “mo+o+ds.” Though this exchange is short, it paints a fairly clear picture of the nature of Porrim's relationship with Kankri: she has taken it upon herself to be a sort of motherly figure to him, one who seeks to temper him and keep him in check. This role is much the same with Latula, whom Porrim humors when asked to see an “OUTST4ND1NG h34lfl1p!!!!” Latula, in kind, seems to relax around Porrim, toning down her “r4dic4l” routine.

While Porrim's views on social issues are much more level-headed than those of Kankri, she does scold Latula for overdoing her “'rad girl' thing,” saying that she feels that “it can co+me acro+ss as a series o+f affectatio+ns designed to+ o+verco+mpensate fo+r an implicit flaw with [her] gender.” Porrim proceeds to take a small page out of Kankri's book at this point, launching into a criticism of troll gender heirarchies:

PORRIM: Yo+u can pretend to+ misunderstand all yo+u want, but we’ve talked abo+ut this befo+re and I kno+w yo+u’re smarter abo+ut this than yo+u let o+n. We were raised in what was a fo+rmally “matriarchal so+ciety”, which has always been used as a shield to+ do+wnplay clear instances o+f female o+ppressio+n and o+bfuscate the relevance o+f gender ro+les, particularly where they’re weighted against females. But anyo+ne who+’s lo+o+ked at o+ur so+ciety mo+re ho+nestly can see that while, yes, it is superficially o+bserved as a matriarchy o+n a fuschia-do+wn basis, o+n a practical level all o+f the enfo+rcement and po+litical po+wer go+verning mo+st classes was delegated to+ the higher CIPs, which were generally male-do+minated castes. They go+t to+ co+ntro+l the agenda and dictate the so+cial co+nventio+ns, and anyo+ne who+ dared to+ o+bject o+r bring light to+ this co+uld always be co+untered with “Hey! Matriarchy! End o+f discussio+n.”

Unlike Kankri, however, Porrim quickly tones it down, keeping her thoughts succinct and contained, much to Latula's relief. Porrim's point lies in one singular concept, however: she feels that Latula should focus more on being herself rather than projecting the constant “rad girl” image she is so fond of. Latula lets her guard down around Porrim and admits that “1ts k1nd of str3ssful som3t1m3s, k33p1ng 1t up! som3t1m3s 1 forg3t to put z33s on th3 3nd of words, 4nd 1 r34lly str3ss out 4bout 1t.” What she says next, however, is much more telling of her and Porrim's relationship.

LATULA: you know, 1 4lw4ys d1d f33l b3tt3r t4lk1ng to you. L1k3 1 could t4k3 th3 3dg3 off my r4d th1ng, 4nd r3l4x 4 l1ttl3 mor3.

Though their relationship is much the same as the one between Porrim in Kankri in that Porrim plays the role of the “cool big sister” or motherly figure, it's clear that Latula and Porrim are friends first and foremost, meaning that even Porrim isn't immune to the nicknames Latula affixes to her. (Oddly enough, one of these nicknames was “pornst4r,” which brings us to the next aspect of Porrim's personality.)

Much in the same way that Kanaya, Porrim's descendant/ancestor, is considered the town bicycle when it comes to auspiticing, Porrim heavily hints at being involved with much more concupiscient relationships. One of the first things she says to Meenah is that they will “get yo+u all caught up o+n exactly who+'s been seen passing thro+ugh the well greased revo+lving do+o+rs to+ my quadrants,” denoting just how comfortable and open she is about her sexual endeavors. Both she and Aranea hint at having been flushed for one another and engaged in a sexual relationship at one point in time, and Porrim also alludes to the strength of Latula's slapping as a form of innuendo. While troll sexuality is much different from that of human sexuality, one could easily see the comfort with which Porrim regards her sexuality as another facet of her views on gender equality.

For all of her passion against the rigid gender roles put into place by the hemospectrum, however, Aranea states that over the sweeps of their failed session, Porrim “found within herself a renewed interest in the duty that came with her bloodline,” meaning that she eventually retook the mantle of assisting in the proliferation of their species. What this exactly entails aside from the obvious is currently unknown.

Character Powers/Abilities/Skills: As stated above, Porrim is a Rainbow Drinker, which is the troll equivalent of a vampire. (The term “rainbow” alludes to the multicolored shades of blood that trolls possess.) The details of her status as a Rainbow Drinker are unknown; Aranea only mentions that Porrim's abilities “awakened” one day. Though the abilities of a Rainbow Drinker are only vaguely referenced in canon, if Kanaya's Rainbow Drinkers abilities are anything to go by, Porrim's abilities allow her to walk in the sunlight (which trolls find toxic) and have her skin glow (much like a lightbulb) at the very least. Whether this gives her an increase in strength or speed is unknown.

Porrim also has an interest in alternative fashion, having made clothes for Kankri. One can also reasonably presume she makes her own clothes as well.
